Merinda Logie, consulting through Castledine Gregory, advised the executors of a deceased estate over a number of years in their complex negotiations and sale of bushland reserved in 1996 under the Metropolitan Region Scheme.
The privately owned land on Wanneroo Road was originally earmarked in 1983 in the EPA’s System 6 ‘Red Book’ for public acquisition to add to Neerabup National Park.
Some 28 years later, after a complicated sequence of development applications, compensation claims, Supreme Court proceedings, private arbitration proceedings, numerous expert witnesses in the valuation dispute, and taxation issues, the land was finally transferred to the WAPC in 2024.
We would like to thank our team of consultants and clients for their stamina, patience and expertise in bringing this historical matter to a successful resolution. We also acknowledge the contributions of colleagues and officers in the State Solicitor’s Office and the WAPC, without which it would not have been possible.
