Merinda is an experienced and strategic lawyer. She aligns herself closely with her clients’ goals, giving tailored and pragmatic advice and representation to solve complex problems and processes. Merinda has more than 25 years’ experience in planning, development & environment, energy & resources, native title, heritage and government law across Australia. She worked for Blake Dawson Waldron, Melbourne (now Ashurst), Minter Ellison, Perth, Latro Lawyers, Albany WA, Glen McLeod Legal and Castledine Gregory. She has also been inhouse counsel for South East Water, Melbourne and the WA Department of Water, Environmental Regulation, advising the WA Environmental Protection Authority.
Merinda has represented clients in the Federal Court, Supreme Court (WA), State Administrative Tribunal (WA) and Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal. Her clients include landowners, energy, resources and industrial companies, native title applicants and respondents, Aboriginal land councils, and local governments.
For ten years, she co-wrote and lectured two law units at Murdoch University: ‘Environment, Sustainability and Climate Change Law’ and ‘The Law of Planning’. Merinda was sub-editor of the national journal, ‘Planning Law in Australia’ and held various elected roles on the National Environmental Law Association.
